Testify

This is just one of the many batts that I created while having the watchful eyes of Llama Boy glued to my every move.

This offering is called "Testify" and I made two of them. Now posted in my Etsy store www.larkspurfunnyfarm.etsy.com It contains LFF Alpaca from Silver hawk, Mohair from LFF Sugar and a very soft Colorado Raised Merino Lambs Wool. I love the soft and bouncy feel of this batt..

Now I am not giving any credit to Llama Boy for this batt - he kept telling me to add Llama - not this time..

Two Peas in a Pod

As you can see Llama Boy is not in a barn!!! These pictures are of Wednesday at noon and we have not settled this issue.

He is again watching me while I work this afternoon from no where near a barn. Now I must admit if we thought Llama Boy can be hard headed you don't know me.... Ask my sons.

Yes, I checked on him several times but no I did not run all over through the drifts trying to catch someone who is clearly not going to work with me on this. This morning during chores I again offered him the smaller barn and again he was not having any of it so I allow you to be stupid. I understand his desire to protect his Llama family but there is no way he can be in the barn for many issues. The smaller barn is a wonderful dry, warm place where he could be snug and out of the elements but like with all of us sometimes our need to do something else takes over all common sense.

I understand that pure will and determination can see us through things that most would never attempt. I get it that sometimes we put the welfare of others before our own and do not even consider the harm it might do to ourselves. I get all that so I guess you can say Llama Boy and I are two peas in a pod...

Oz - Funny Farm Style

Never Mind the man behind the curtain!!
Llama Boy sure can pull my strings and create more issues that some day's I wish to deal with - Tuesday was such a day.

The temp at the farm was bitter cold, more snow was coming sideways and my silly Llama Boy was not cooperating. I tried for over an hour to place him back into a barn where he would be safe and I could stop worrying. I tried every trick in the book but he was just not going to leave the closed side of the barn which housed the Llama Mommas and their little girls. There is not a way to drag a 200 pound (or more depending on how mad he gets) through waist high snow drifts nor can I trick him into going into the smaller barn because he has learned from my last deception on getting him in that barn. So I finally gave up and told him that his strong will better carry him through the bitter cold that was well on it's way.

I made it back to the house and peeled off all the layers and changed into dry clothes. I went up stairs still saying words of anger and disappointment for this hard headed guy. When I came downstairs to start work on some fiber that would not give me much trouble there he was standing at the french doors looking in at me. I wagged my finger (index finger that is) at him and scolded him again for being such a pain. I sat and worked away at the carding machine while he spent the time watching me. I tried to ignore his nose pressed against the glass and stay focused on my work - all the while reminding myself I tried for so long and now he was going to have to ride it out.

So how long do you think I lasted with that resolve???

Mail Box Adventure

Today's biggest task was to make it down the very long driveway here at the farm. I was so blessed to have many customers find items to want in my shops during this storm and I packaged them all up with heart stickers on the labels and all my love placed into the packages... Now, I just had to get it to the ignored mail box at the end of my snow covered (that is an under statement) long and curving impassable road. I decided to do this task first thing so I was fresh with energy and my legs had not complaints.

I put all the packages in a large plastic sack to keep them safe and dry. I got the sheep hook to balance myself and to use it to get me up just in case I do a reverse snow angel again. With goggles on and all the layers this body requires off I went. I forgot to mention that in my ears I was listening to Eckhart Tolle to give me strength and purpose of being in the NOW.

I went with such joy that I had packages to take to the mail box and I also knew I had a lecture DVD awaiting for me since Thursday. Yes, there was much effort, the legs started to remind me that I never really remember how long this driveway is until I have to do one of these treks. But I remained present and it was wonderful. I am the first tracks in any of the snow - not even bunny tracks to show signs of life. The sunlight bounced of the crystals in the snow as if to say - "Look at what I created just for you" Magical.

I reached the box and placed the nine packages into it with love and care. I took my mail and placed them into my plastic sack and started the trek back. I stayed in my own tracks to keep the rest of the snow untouched so the next time I make it down I can see who was here. What a long yet joy filled adventure. They say I am going to get more snow in the next two days but for now I thrill in the task of walking my mail down. Simple I know but what a JOY!

Had to make another for you all

Made another one because the first one was so well received ! I so enjoyed repeating the process and feeling the lovely fibers between my fingers. It is ready to go to it's new home.

Finding Your Good

Finding the good in a snow bound farm.
The sweet Pinon tree in the front of the house is a constant friend and form of amazement. It is full of tiny new cones and has on each tip a Mother Nature made ice cycle. Thin and delicate but such purpose. No man made decorations on any Holiday tree could come close to this perfection.

The way I found this beauty was in struggling through the snow drift outside the shop door that was chest high to get to the truck to start it up and this is what I saw - finding my good took a bit of effort but well worth it. By the way, the truck engine turned over - such a trooper this old dear truck is but I reminded it there was no going down the driveway - drifts are well over the wheels and in some places over the hood.

What is your GOOD you found today??
