As I left for town this morning I gave clear instruction to the llama's to do their job and watch the goats and hens closely - coyotes have been thick this month.. I spoke slowly and even pointed so there should not have been any confusion. They have been on the job for over 10 years so they should not need reminding of their job description but it never hurts.
I was not gone that long but I guess the warm sunshine and slight breeze got them thinking they were are vacation.. Stretched out sunning their bellies and sound asleep.. I managed to get into the house, find the camera and get a few snaps before the goats told them I was home. I tell you those goats sure love to be tattle tails. Who could blame them - soon this unseasonable warm weather will be replaced by bone chilling winds and sub zero temp's.

Well...maybe they were trying to act like they weren't working to DISTRACT the intruders? Sometimes that works...right? ;) How lovely to lay out in the sun!

Your so right naps are wonderful - I do better at those then regular night time sleeping..
Great Point MamaTea - the are really bright animals so it makes sense - They have saved many an animal here so I need to cut them some slack...
Thanks Candy - I don't get to sneak up on them very often so I was amazed the big mouth goats did not give me away sooner. I think they where enjoy the naptime as well.
hehehaha. these guys are so sweet!!! i bet they had a little powpow and said "oh look...grace is gone! nap time!". if it was me out there, and i had a choice between cayote watch and sun bathing, i'd know what i'd choose!
Oh, silly, sweet llamas! Our neighbor's llamas often hang out by the fence line where we have the chicken barn. I always feel like the chickens are safer when those big guys are around!
My LLama boy will round up the hens when he see's a hawk in the sky of when folks come to the farm. He will stand in front of their door not letting them out until he feels all is O.K. - I love my llama's
