Awaiting the dawn of this New Year...
I have still some Wild Party Animals hanging about the farm this morning all wanting a Country breakfast.. There will be lots of cleaning up from Mother Natures huffing and puffing.. She always leaves me more work then I think I deserve but what you going to do? She does grace my farm with MANY blessings so like with all things in life you take the bad with the good and hope you can stay focused on the good...
Today I will do my Walking Mediation as I haul tons of hay to place inside the barns. As the Zen saying goes "Chopping Wood, Carry Water" A time to listen to that voice within while doing the basic tasks of the day. Not listening to the chatter, the negative narrative that writes your story but rather to allow that connection to the silent world around you while honoring the blessings in the regular and required tasks of the day.
In today's world we do not honor those who go about doing the small but necessary tasks of the world. We celebrate those who seem to just take up space with their bad behavior and bundles of cash with no consideration to the invisible folks who really do the work. We wish to gain our 15 minutes of fame no matter what we have to do to get there. Today I wish to focus on the silent angels working the jobs that do not pay enough to feed their families, the parents who long for just a single day that their child might feel health and peace, those tired and injured warriors who are returning home to much less then was promised to them and to find peace in the changes that are coming this year.
It is time for this gal to "Carry Hay, Shovel Poop" mindful work to me. What is yours??

Good post and wonderful pictures. Happy New Year to all that do the little necessary tasks that keep the world turning day to day. Not everyone can be an overpaid basketball player or movie star someone has to haul the garbage, pick the produce, clean public restrooms. And a big Happy New Year to all our military out there and the fireman, police and emergency services here at home.
Happy New Year to all. Beautiful pictures, Grace and a beautiful post as well. How many of us brave the elements while coughing our heads off or wandering through the dark to check on animals in a storm? We often forget the folks that actually do the work. Perhaps all Congressmen and women should have to work for minimum wage at real jobs for a year before they can run for office?? It just might change the world....
Ha! What Sheri said!!
I love your sunrise series of pictures!!
I always get annoyed when someone says "He could do so much better for himself!" I reply "But if he enjoys what he is doing what's wrong with that?"
My mindful task each day is milking the goat. :)
Oh Candy that is a mindful task - the closeness and the give and take between you and your sweet girl.
Sheri, so very very true - I wished my shoulder would have supported me in my task today so I will have to save the hay hauling for another day. Have the heat pad on it.
Wonderful reminder Tombstone - I give thanks each day for the police and Emt's who got to my son in time. I still say a prayer for the helicopter flight emt's who tried to save my husband 15 years back - I never forget their service to our family.
