Prayers are all we can do for now!

By now everyone has heard about the earthquake and resulting walls of water. For those of us who do not sleep it was an event that we did not know exactly what happened but the animals here went wild with fear. It is amazing how their bodies feel things that we miss but all I knew was there was something horrible going on until I went to the computer to see if anything was posted...

It is a reminder that with all that we think we are in control of - we really are so small. I feel such sadness and pain for those who are going through this and all I can do is send out prayers for them for now..

There is a saying that I live by "Mother Nature Always Bats Last". Be Safe Today and Hugs those around you....

This is so interesting, Grace. The dogs last night, my Finn, especially were absolutely glued to me. Could NOT pay them to get out from under my feet.

I've often thought, especially during these devastating natural disasters, why we think we're invicible? Why do we build houses on sand, why do we "create" islands in water to build cities? In this country, after the loss of Galveston and San Franciso by levelling natural disasters during the Industrial Revolution, when "anything was possible" why didn't it knock the wind out of our egotistical sails a bit? We are just visitors here...Sorry to be so ominous, I've just often thought that we need to remember who is pulling the strings to our marionettes--Mother Nature.

Jonni your so right!! We forget that within minutes the planet we call home can shake us off and bury us... Today here we are at high fire danger and the winds are to clock in around 50 miles an hour. Folks build amongst all the trees and then wonder why they house goes up like match sticks. For a species who is supose to be so smart why do we act so stupid???

I know what you mean about the animals. The little goat girl cried for hours and would not let me put her down at all... The animals outside where running in circles - I thought we might have had a preditor in the pastures but who knew it was the ground...

I watched the Tsunami come in live on the late news last night. I watched in horror as the wave enveloped all the farmland and greenhouses knowing how many lives would be lost and property destroyed.

Today my dog is acting like he does when we have a power outage, whining and pawing me and just acting nurotic in general.

We delude ourselves that we have control over our lives and destinies yet at the same time, we can't live in constant fear of some disaster either.
I guess the best we can do is live everyday to the fullest and let the chips fall where they may....

I always raised me kids with the saying "Live life as if it is your last because who knows it might be" When I get really caught up in what I call little things I remind myself I could get hit with a toilet seat - did you ever see the show "Dead Like Me"? one of my fav's because she wasted her short life and then it ended by getting hit in the head with a toilet seat - who would think that is your ending... So live at a full tilt and really enjoy even those crappy things that show up.

Amen to that, Grace.
